Doula & Birth Photography Services
All support starts with a complimentary consult. This is an opportunity for both of us to get to know each other a bit more and see if we’re a good fit. It’s your opportunity to ask questions.
Deep down, you know you have everything it takes to birth your baby. You trust your body and you trust the process of birth. As your doula, I’m your partner in advocating for the experience you desire.
Studies show that the presence of a doula during labor significantly improves outcomes for birthing parents as evidenced by fewer interventions, shorter labors, and lower chances of an unplanned C-section.
Partners and other support people benefit from the guidance of a doula as well. I can assist them with effective comforting techniques and enable them to take breaks to ensure their energy isn’t depleted.
As part of your team, you can count on your support people being energized throughout labor and ready for the task at hand: Whatever you need in that moment!
Best of all, a doula has no agenda for your labor to look a certain way apart from what is important to YOU. Whether you want to have a home birth so your dog can join your birth team, give birth at a birth center to have the comforts of a home-like environment outside of your own space, or deliver at a hospital to have all the medical options available, my support will only enhance what you envision for your birth.
Hiring a doula is one of the best investments you can make as you prepare for your birthing journey. Contact me if you’re ready to learn more.

“We loved having Ashley as our doula. She brought a lot of knowledge, compassion, and openness to the experience; we were so grateful to have her as part of our birth team! We particularly appreciated how thoughtful she was in providing us resources and following up on issues that were relevant for our family as we navigated birth and the postpartum period. During the birth of our baby, she was so attentive and focused, and her encouragement during difficult moments is something that I will always remember with gratitude.”

HOW IT WORKS
The Doula Roadmap
While I am open to start working with families at any point in pregnancy, here’s a suggested roadmap for our relationship:
6 to 20 Weeks
Schedule a free 30-minute consultation. Once we get acquainted, you can determine if you would like to move forward with contracting my services. Your deposit saves your estimated due date on my calendar. From hire through 6 weeks postpartum you can reach out to me about any questions or concerns.
28 to 36 Weeks
Schedule 3 prenatal sessions in your home or Zoom for you, your support person, and I to go over preparing for your birth experience.
37 to 42 Weeks
I am on call 24/7 for the start of your labor. We will be in close communication about the signs you are experiencing and when it is time for me to come join you as your labor progresses. I provide continuous support through birth and up to 2 hours postpartum.
0 to 2 weeks Postpartum
I provide 2 postpartum sessions in your home or Zoom to provide resources, process the experience of your birth, and offer support as you begin your healing and parenthood journey.
0 to 6 Weeks Postpartum
For 6 weeks after you give birth, I am available for any questions or concerns you would like to discuss. You can contact me for helpful information or resources to aid in your healing journey and adjustment to parenthood.

As soon as you would like! I typically recommend that we schedule our first prenatal visit for sometime around the 28 week mark, but you have my email and cell phone number to contact me if you have any updates or need any resources or referrals leading up to that visit.

I support births in all locations (home, birth center, hospital), and under a variety of circumstances. Many of my clients choose to work with me because they have a desire to labor unmedicated, but about 50% of births that I support involve anesthesia, like an epidural.
I have experience in supporting many birth scenarios, from minimally-assisted homebirths to planned Cesareans, to spontaneous births and inductions, waterbirths, emergency Cesareans, VBACs, and more.
Here is a list of locations I support birthing clients:
Birth Centers:
-Sprout Birth Center
-Puget Sound Birth Center
-Eastside Birth Center
-Center for Birth
-Seattle Home Maternity
Hospitals:
-Everett Providence
-Evergreen
-Overlake
-UW Northwest
-UW Montlake
-Swedish First Hill
-Virginia Mason
-Swedish Issaquah
-UW Valley

I am close colleagues with other birth doula photographers in the area and I would send one of them to support you in the event that I am unable to make it to your birth. I email them the notes from our prenatal visits, as well as your birth plan, so that they can show up to support you in the way that you desire.

I take a step-in, step-back approach to birth support. My main goal is to help foster the relationship between you and your partner or support person during this transformative experience in your lives. I firmly believe that anything a doula is trained to do, a partner or support person can do. I use my knowledge and skill in the birth space to recognize what might be helpful in the moment, and teach or remind them how to guide you through that stage. I step in to offer additional emotional and physical support when things get intense, and step back to give you space (and snap some photos!) when you're laboring smoothly on your own or together.

I do not offer separate packages for birth doula support and birth photography. My package and fee is based on the set number of clients I work with each month so I am happy to work with you exclusively as a birth doula or birth photographer. However, my fee remains the same.
